Background

Located just a short walk from the beach and the casino in Ostend, Hotel Europe is a modern 82-room hotel that blends comfort, design, and warm hospitality. It welcomes both leisure and business guests from Belgium and abroad.

The management team is hands-on and service-oriented, with years of experience in the local market. While their guest satisfaction was strong, they knew they were not getting the most out of their pricing strategy—especially during peak periods, events, and market shifts.

The challenge

Managing prices felt like a moving target. With demand constantly fluctuating due to seasonality, last-minute trends, and competitor behavior, the team often had to choose between acting fast and acting right. 

There was no dedicated system in place: adjusting rates was manual, time-consuming, and mostly reactive.

While the team was constantly trying to find the sweet spot, they were aware of the revenue they were leaving on the table. Price a night too low, and valuable income slipped away; too high, and rooms stayed empty. Without clear visibility or structured support, pricing became a source of stress rather than a lever for performance.

The solution

In 2023, Hotel Europe began working with Otamiser, a revenue management partner focused on improving OTA performance for independent hotels. Otamiser took full ownership of their pricing strategy—managing every step, from analysis to execution — and introduced Smartpricing’s dynamic pricing software in April 2025 as the technological foundation.

This setup created a seamless, hands-off workflow for the hotel team. Smartpricing forms the data backbone, collecting booking trends, competitor pricing, and market signals to calculate optimal rates using AI. Otamiser then configures the Smartpricing platform to reflect Hotel Europe’s strategic goals—setting rules, adjusting aggressiveness, and monitoring performance. Thanks to Smartpricing’s integration with Hotel Europe’s PMS, the optimized rates are automatically published across all connected channels.

But Otamiser’s support didn’t stop at pricing. Their proprietary ranking optimization algorithm played a key role in increasing the hotel’s visibility. It monitors OTA rankings and performance indicators daily, then automatically adjusts listings to help the property climb higher in search results on platforms like Booking.com and Expedia—ensuring that competitive rates were not only published, but also seen.

The results

The partnership produced rapid and measurable results. May and June 2025 saw a 47,95% increase in revenue compared to the same months in 2024, driven by stronger rates and improved demand capture. The ADR grew to €130, reflecting stronger positioning and better value capture per booking.
